If you’ve read Dawn of Wonder, you may have noticed that slavery, now mostly known as human trafficking, is a central theme. What you may not know is just how big a problem it is these days. Take a look at the stats below.

At the office, we have been challenged to act on what we’ve discovered. Our prime motivation is from our faith – the way in which God consistently calls for justice, and insists on kindness being shown to the weak. But regardless of background or religion, there are certain things that we all know are just wrong. For people to have all choice taken away, to have no say in what happens to them assaults the very core of what makes them human.

Fighting against human trafficking is complicated. Vigilante-style efforts, though they work in stories, can actually end up causing more problems than they solve. From what we’ve learned, the most effective way to help is by supporting organizations that have the necessary knowledge, experience and weight. We’re still learning, but here are some of the groups we are connecting with and supporting.

IJM

The International Justice Mission works with local governments to find and free human trafficking victims and forced labourers in countries throughout Africa, South America and Asia. They conduct rescue operations, build cases against perpetrators, and help to identify and strengthen flaws in the justice systems of developing countries prone to such injustices.

A21 Logo

THE A21 CAMPAIGN

A21 is a global organisation that aims to end human trafficking through prevention, protection, prosecution and partnerships. They focus largely on education and awareness, but also aid local governments through the set-up of trafficking hotlines as well as providing rescued trafficking victims with legal support in order to prosecute their traffickers. A21 has its head office in the USA but has centres in 20 other countries, and partners with organisations in a world-wide network.

Love Justice Logo

LOVE JUSTICE

Love Justice is an American-based organisation working to stop the traffic of Nepalese and Bangladeshi victims into India. They do this through identifying, intercepting and interviewing trafficking victims. In this way they are able to gain valuable information to identify trafficking syndicates, stop them and prosecute those guilty.

“Dawn of Wonder” is truly a masterful piece of literature. I love how the details of the “mysterious” and “magical” is not overtly obvious but as the story progresses, it becomes apparent that Renshaw’s realm is coursing and vibrant with powerful secrets. Yet in contrast with the epicness and grandure is the everyday people. They are slow to the uptake, and perhaps easily decived or prone to make complicated mistakes, but in spite of this they are hardy and true. When the limit is pushed, they become fierce and bold to defend their own. And within all this comes the creative, energetic, and troublemaking, Aedan with his own past to reconcile and a future to conquor. It had me hooked by the first paragraph. I will read and reread this book for years to come. It is truly a classic and fits nicely between Sanderson and Tolkien.

I love Dawn of Wonder. This is such a new story with tried and true realms of fantasy lore filled with rich elements that have capture my attention. The characters are so real in their natures yet learn so much from one another as they grow. I cannot wait to read more. I’m a retired teacher and would you to be added to your beta reader list if at all possible. I do not write to authors nor post many reviews but I was compelled to reach out as this is of the highest standard. The series will become a cornerstone to the genre.

Love your book, and thankful that you have shared about these organizations that are working to fight this horrific crime. You’ve probably already heard of it, but the movie Sound of Freedom just came out to raise awareness of the issue. It’s an intense but hopeful story. Highly recommend.

There is another great anti-trafficking organization called The Exodus Road. They are based in Colorado Springs. They send undercover investigators into brothels in Asia, Mexico, and the US to free those trapped in sexual slavery. You might give them a look. They do great work

I LOVE your book and look forward to the next!

I stumbled upon this information as I was looking for a release date from book 2. Kudos for spreading awareness. This awful crime has touched our family on a personal level and we’ve learned a lot over the past year. I would just like to share this:

An often overlooked way to fight against Sex Trafficking is raising awareness about the role pornography plays in this vicious system. Many men often wonder what they can do to help and one easy way is to educate themselves on the role pornography plays in trafficking and help spread awareness.

I’m halfway through your book right now and loving it! Another group you may be interested to learn about is Operation Underground Railroad. They work with local law enforcement agencies all around the world to rescue victims of human trafficking and prosecute traffickers.

Outstanding organization. I was amazed to find out just how many there are out there fighting this travesty, and yet it seems they have barely made a dent.
